Salt Lake City to Dugway Proving Ground
Mountain Pass Route
Take I-80 West to the Tooele/Grantsville exit (EXIT 99). Stay on Route 36 South through the City of Tooele and the small town of Stockton.
NOTE: The last gas station before arriving at Dugway is at Stockton.
Continue past a small lake and the famous Penny’s Diner. About a half mile past the diner the road splits so keep right on Route 36. About 3 miles down the road, turn right onto Route 199. Twenty-five miles later you will arrive at Dugway’s main gate.
NOTE: This is open range country. Watch for Cattle. Also, watch for deer, jack rabbits, antelope and mountain lions.
NOTE: Speed limits greatly enforced in Stockton, Rush Valley and Tooele.
Skull Valley Route
This is the route of choice in bad weather or at night time.

Take I-80 West and Exit at Rowley Junction (Exit 77). Go south under the overpass and head straight south for 37 miles on Skull Valley Road. This road ends at Dugway!
